Siena

Went to Siena yesterday; it was beautiful. The picture of Shelley and Pat is from the Campo Fiori, the big plaza in the center of town. We heard that they were having the "draw" for the Palio yesterday at 7:00pm so we waited to see the race. No race, but some good snoozing. While we were waiting we all racked out in the plaza for a catnap. Abby had some particular good down time as she had Uncle Pat as a pillow! If you look at the tower picture very closely you will see 3 little dots at the very top...that is Shelley, Chris and CJ. We would love to show you the beautiful panorama from the top, but they FORGOT to bring a camera up...and after 774 steps roundtrip, they were not eager to climb it again! After the climb the adults rested and CJ made friends with some Italian kids with a soccer ball. Half the fun of the day was just sitting in the plaza people watching and enjoying the kids. The picture out the windshield is to show the absurd driving we did through Siena. We ended up driving (very slowly) through what we have now determined was a pedestrian zone! Pat and Chris were very impressive with their control. The beautiful landscape shot is from our villa patio. More villa pics to come. Love to all, Annie
